Who should I start between Justin Fields and Tua Tagovailoa?
Who should I start between Justin Fields and Tua Tagovailoa?

Justin Fields and Tua Tagovailoa are the quarterbacks for the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins, respectively. Fields is competing in his second season in the NFL, while Tagovailoa is in his third campaign. Both players are doing particularly well and are set to start in Week 13.

The Chicago Bears are having a rough season and have lost five back-to-back games since week 8. Fields has established himself as a sound starting quarterback, but the Bears under him have only won three games this season. The Bears lost their Week 12 game against the New York Jets 10-31, but Justin Fields wasn't part of that game.

Fields was suffering from partially torn ligaments in his shoulders, but is now set to play. The team announced on Friday that he will play in their Week 13 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Tagovailoa have led the Miami Dolphins to victories in their last five games, making them strong contenders in the league. He carries no injury designation and will start on Sunday. The Dolphins are 8-3 this season and will face the San Francisco 49ers in a huge match between two impressive sides.

We would suggest that you start with Justin Fields in the upcoming week. Here's why.

Why Justin Fields is a better fantasy pick in Week 13 than Tua Tagovailoa

The crux of the matter is the upside. Starting Fields is definitely a risk, but it is a calculated one. At this stage of the fantasy season, you may be in dire need of a win and Fields has the potential to score a lot more points than Tagovailoa. There is a worry that the Bears won't utilize him as much as they have in previous games, but if so, why would they start him?

If the Bears are willing to risk their QB, so should you. Watching Fields run for 50-yards TDs on a seemingly regular basis is too much to ignore. If he's playing, he should start.

In Week 13, the Bears will face the Packers, who are comparatively weaker than the Dolphins' opponent, the 49ers. The Packers offense is struggling and Fields has a chance to break their losing streak with a ground-breaking performance.

If you are projected to beat your opponent handily this week, it is worth not taking the risk and benching Justin Fields. Taking the safety first option could work for you in that scenario. However, if your matchup is close, take the higher ceiling.

Justin Fields and Tua Tagovailoa stats

Tua Tagovailoa has started all nine games he played for the Dolphins this season. He has thrown for 2,564 yards with 19 touchdowns and three interceptions. It has been Tagovailoa's best season and he has a completion percentage of 69.7. In his last game against the Houston Texans, he threw for 299 yards with one passing touchdown.

Fields missed his last game due to a shoulder injury and will be starting his 12th game of the season. He has recorded 1,642 passing yards with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Fields' rushing game is where he wins you your matchup. He has rushed for 834 yards on 122 attempts and scored seven rushing touchdowns.

In nine games, Tagovailoa has scored 176 fantasy points, while Justin Fields has earned 227 fantasy points in 11 games. In terms of fantasy football, both are performing similarly and will earn you good fantasy points. However, Fields had a slow start to the season and has racked up a large number of points in the past five games.
