The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their wide receiver group have had a difficult past few weeks. In the Week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team, which has dropped three of its last four games, lost wideouts Chris Godwin and Mike Evans to ankle and hamstring ailments, respectively.
Although Godwin has unexpectedly said he hopes to make a comeback this season, the ankle injury is likely to keep him out of action for the remainder of the campaign.
Evans' potential return to the field is still up in the air, but it is still expected that he will miss Monday night's Buccaneers game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to the hamstring issue.
Last week, Todd Bowles, the team's coach, said Evans' injury is a recurrence of the same hamstring injury he had previously suffered. Bowles signaled that Evans, who has now missed practice twice this week, might be out until the Buccaneers' bye in Week 11, but he did not specify when the seasoned wide receiver would return.
Mike Evans' earliest comeback date is probably going to be on Nov. 24 for the Buccaneers' Week 12 road matchup against the New York Giants. He will most likely miss the team's important games against the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in Weeks 9 and 10 before the bye.
Evans missed his first game since Week 18 of the 2022 NFL season last week when Tampa Bay lost to the Atlanta Falcons. Furthermore, before last week, the standout wide receiver hadn't missed a regular-season game because of an injury since Week 16 of the 2021 campaign.
Evans has an indisputable impact on this Bucs offense, and fans of the team alongside fantasy managers are hoping that his most recent hamstring injury won't keep him out of action for more than a few games. The team's hopes of making the playoffs might depend heavily on Evans' health later in the season.
Tight end Cade Otton was the cornerstone of the Buccaneers' passing offense last time out when Evans was not playing. He led the club with 10 targets, nine catches, 81 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Mike Evans' injury update: What happened to the Bucs WR?
Mike Evans aggravated his hamstring injury in the second quarter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Week 7 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. That setback came after he scored his 100th career receiving touchdown, which was also his first and only touchdown of the game.
As he reached to catch a pass into the Ravens' end zone, Evans appeared to have injured himself. The team later said he would not be able to return to the matchup after he was observed gripping the back of his right leg in obvious discomfort.
The 31-year-old wide receiver has caught 26 passes for 335 yards and six touchdowns in seven outings this season.
