Quarterback Justin Fields was never able to find his footing during his time with the Chicago Bears. Fields faced criticism from Bears fans after not being able to lead them to a winning record. Now there is a fan who is coming to his defense, and it's an eight-time NBA All-Star.

Damian Lillard was apparently watching the Las Vegas Raiders' Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Raiders offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was also Fields' offensive coordinator when he was with the Bears. Lillard appeared to blame Getsy for hindering Fields' development.

"I think I’m seeing who held Justin Fields back fr… cuz wtf are we doin," Damian Lillard wrote on X.

With just about 10 minutes remaining in Sunday's game against the Ravens, Raiders starting quarterback Gardner Minshew had just 206 passing yards and an interception. Las Vegas' lone touchdown came on a rush by running back Alexander Mattison.

Lillard was of the opinion that perhaps Fields wasn't the main problem with the Chicago Bears offense and that it was Getsy all along. That would be a bigger problem for the Raiders if that is the case.

Justin Fields set to make his second start in Week 2 vs. Broncos

Justin Fields made his first start of the season in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons after Russell Wilson's lingering calf injury flared up. Fans were anticipating Wilson's return in Week 2 in time to face his former team, the Denver Broncos; however, that won't happen.

Wilson's calf injury continues to hinder his ability to play this season, and Fields will get his second consecutive start. Fields completed 17 of 23 passes for just 156 yards. Although he wasn't able to get the Pittsburgh Steelers a touchdown pass, the team did get the 18-10 win to start off the season. The bright spot in that box score is that Fields didn't turn the ball over.

If the quarterback can keep the Pittsburgh Steelers in the win column, he may give Wilson competition for the starting job. The quarterback was drafted with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after a standout collegiate career with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
