The biggest winner of the NFL franchise tag deadline yesterday was Daniel Jones. The Giants extended Jones to a four-year deal worth $160 million with $35 million in the upside.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, former NFL defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones spoke about Jones' contract and thinks it's a big waste of money for the Giants.

Jones said:

"This is a big waste of money for the Giants. Nothing against D Jones he's a good player, but that's a lot of money. I think they was rushing to get a deal done because they haven't won a playoff game or been to the playoffs and God knows when but they got to get a deal done. We'll see how it pans out this year."

Two other quarterbacks extended and signed long-term contracts this week. The New Orleans Saints inked free agent Derek Carr to a four-year $150 million deal.

Geno Smith reached a three-year, $105 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

Daniel Jones had a career year in 2022 which resulted in his long-term extension

Regardless, if Adam Jones feels the Giants wasted money on Daniel Jones, they paid him and he secured the bag.

The Giants struck a long-term deal with him before the franchise deadline closed, forcing them not to use the tag on him. Instead, the team used the franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley, minutes after they agreed to terms with Jones.

The Giants elected not to pick up Jones' fifth-year option for the 2023 season last April. He needed to have a career season in order to get extended and he did.

He set career highs in completion percentage (67.2), yards (3,205), completions (317), attempts (472), rushing yards (708), and rushing touchdowns (7.)

He only threw for 15 touchdowns this season in the 17-game season, which is not good. The team believes he can win a Super Bowl and will be tied down for the next four seasons.
