Braxton Berrios opens up about the secret sauce to healthy relationship

Miami Dolphins star Braxton Berrios has been dating girlfriend Alix Earle for more than a year now. On Thursday, Berrios appeared on the "Hot Mess with Alix Earle" podcast. There, Berrios revealed how it's important for couples to go on dates regularly to keep the relationship going.

"I think it's important to go on date nights like you can't obviously we're still dating but even for like married couples and all that," the wide receiver said. "I know a lot of my coaches for instance, their schedule is ridiculous. You think ours is bad it's like not even close."

"But they're like 'I try every week to like go on a date with my wife cuz that's our one time' and I don't think you should ever start or stop like dating. I think it's very like key to a healthy relationship and you know," Berrios added. (24:45)

Braxton Berrios' relationship advice came less than a week after his girlfriend Alix Earle participated in a major charity event before Thanksgiving. The SI model shared a glimpse of her participation via Instagram story on Monday.

Alix Earle confessed not wanting to date Braxton Berrios

Before Alix Earle started dating Braxton Berrios, she had no plans to have a boyfriend. During last Thursday's episode of the "Hot Mess" podcast, Earle recalled her emotional dilemma about dating Berrios.

"We were talking for nine months before we officially were like, label on it," she said. "Dating, committed and partially. That was my fault because I was in a little bit of denial. I was like, 'I don't really like him or not. I don't really want a boyfriend.' Like, I just am not going to do this. Like, I really don't want a boyfriend. I was so dead set on like, 'I don't want a boyfriend.'" (1:01:20)

However, Alix Earle went ahead changing her mind about Braxton Berrios and giving a chance to her relationship. It's been almost a year since then, and Earle celebrated her first anniversary with Berrios earlier this month.
