Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre spent most of the late 2000s enduring constant comparisons. After a decade of watching Aaron Rodgers build his resume, comparisons to his mentor have once again come into the NFL zeitgeist.

Speaking on Get Up, NFL analyst Marcus Spears took a side on the debate, putting today's Green Bay Packers quarterback ahead of yesterday's. Here's how he put it:

"Aaron Rodgers is better than Brett Favre. Can we just admit that like he's more talented, he throws the ball better. He keeps the ball out of harm's way more than Brett Favre did. So for all intents and purposes, this should go well."

Would Aaron Rodgers win more games in New York than Brett Favre?

The quarterback announced on the Pat McAfee Show earlier this month that he intends to play for the New York Jets. That said, based on his current allegiances tied to Green Bay on paper, he's stuck where he is until the team can come to an agreement with the Jets.

History set to repeat itself in 2023 as Aaron Rodgers eyes move to Jets

The Jets were also the first stop for Brett Favre, who left the Packers after the 2007 season. He started strongly enough with the team, rolling to an 8-3 record.

However, he stumbled down the stretch, going 9-7 on the year. His statistics also were far from pretty, as he threw for 22 touchdowns and as many interceptions.

Basically, as long as No. 12 can avoid a repeat of 2022 in 2023 and can keep his ratio above 1.0, he'll eclipse what his former mentor accomplished. Both quarterbacks will have been 39 years old in their debut season with New York, assuming the deal doesn't fall through.

Then, after 2023, speculation may hit a new level as fans wonder if No. 12 could possibly follow in Favre's footsteps once again to Minnesota Vikings, where his mentor saw one last glimpse of domination in a 12-4 outing.
