The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired their offensive coach Byron Leftwich just a few days after their playoff exit in the Wild Card round. The NFC South winners struggled to get their act together in attack for the entire season and were eventually eliminated from the postseason by the Dallas Cowboys.

As per reports, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles is expected to make a few more changes to his backroom staff ahead of next season. Tampa Bay did manage to win their division but still had an underwhelming 8-9 record in the regular season.

Leftwich was appointed as the Buccaneers' offensive coordinator in 2019. In his first season with the team, Jameis Winston was at quarterback and finished with 5,109 yards while throwing 30 touchdowns along with an underwhelming 30 interceptions.

When Tom Brady joined the team the following season, Tampa Bay and Leftwich found success as they won the Super Bowl title in the quarterback's first year with the franchise. The team finished seventh in yards per game and second in passing.

Success continued in the 2021 season as Tampa returned to the top two for total yards per game. However, the Buccaneers' postseason was cut short by the Los Angeles Rams, who were more clinical in attack during their divisional-round matchup.

Nonetheless, Leftwich's firing didn't come as a big surprise as several cracks began to appear in the Buccaneers' offense during the 2022 NFL season. Tampa Bay finished 25th in points scored during the regular season, despite having the legendary Brady leading their offense.

Leftwich had a 39-27 regular-season record during his four years as head coach of Tampa Bay. He also had a 5-2 record in the playoffs and helped the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl title in 2021.

Byron Leftwich began his coaching career in 2016 when he took up the role as a coaching intern with the Arizona Cardinals. The team was 7-8-1 that season. However, Leftwich impressed the organization with his work and he became a quarterbacks coach for the team over the next year and a half

Leftwich finished his spell with the Cardinals as the team's interim offensive coordinator towards the 2018 season but had a disastrous 2-7 record. Moreover, Arizona didn't make it to the playoffs in each of their four years with Leftwich.
