It's been eight years since Colin Kaepernick took a knee. The former QB knelt during the national anthem in 2016, protesting against police brutality with a few supporters on his side. Unfortunately, that 2016 season is the last NFL season Kaepernick has played in.

The 36-year-old has continued as a social rights activist, but he's still holding out hope to rejoin the league one day. The ex-San Francisco 49ers QB has reached out to NFL teams, even speaking to the media about the same.

However, in an appearance at the WSJ Tech Live Conference this week, Kaepernick revealed he hasn't watched an NFL game for eight years. He does, however, read stats so he can stay up to date about which NFL teams to contact.

Other fans wondered why he was not watching a sport he still wishes to play.

"It was time years ago. Imagine still wanting to play while probably having no clue about any of the teams youd face," one user said.
"Year 2050: Why aren't NFL teams giving Colin Caepernick a chance?" another fan joked.
"Bro watches zero film and wants to be paid," one person added.

One fan added that Kap not watching film is exactly why he should give up.

"This comment is exactly why he should give up Shills himself for employment without staying in touch with the game It’s cool to move on but just move on."

Though a few fans continue to love him, one such fan believes it is time for him to give up.

"Love Kap but it’s over," one user said.

Colin Kaepernick is still 'pushing' to reach NFL owners

Despite all the backlash and pessimistic comments, Colin Kaepernick hasn't given up on his NFL dream.

In an August interview with Sky Sports, Kaepernick opened up about his efforts to stay in shape, doing his best to reach out to owners and teams that might be interested.

"We're still training, still pushing," Kaepernick said. "So hopefully, we've just got to get one of these team owners to open up.
"It's something I've trained my whole life for...I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship."

That being said, Kaepernick has yet to take up an alternate job as a coach with any team. Per reports, Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh was in talks with the QB for a possible job.

Kaepernick is yet to talk about non-player options with the NFL.
