“Cardinals hired Michael Scott” – Jonathan Gannon’s awkward Kendall Roy-esque meetup has NFL fans in splits

Jonathan Gannon's introduction as the Arizona Cardinals head coach was a bit awkward to say the least.

The Arizona Cardinals announced earlier this week that they had hired Jonathan Gannon as their new head coach. The announcement came right after the former defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles lost in Super Bowl LVII.

After an official press conference with the team, videos of Gannon meeting some of the Cardinals players were posted on social media.

Some of those interactions with his new team were a bit awkward.

Whether it was an offensive or defensive discussion, Gannon had many NFL fans recognizing the similarities between him and some iconic television characters.

His hand movements and sound effects in describing the pass rush had many fans comparing him to Michael Scott from The Office, while others said that he reminded them of Kendall Roy from Succession with some of his body language.

Those thoughts flooded social media over the weekend with opinions about the Cardinals' new head coach. While Michael Scott and Kendall Roy were the majority of the responses, there were others as well.

One Eagles fan went as far as to say that they knew why the team lost the Super Bowl, hinting that he was the reason. Another compared Gannon to former Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett, who didn't even make it through one full season before he was fired.

Now fans will just have to wait and see whether he will be able to bring success to the Arizona Cardinals in his first season.

Who did Jonathan Gannon hire as his new defensive coordinator?

As Jonathan Gannon begins his tenure as the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, he is starting to configure his coaching staff as well. On Saturday, it was announced that he had hired Nick Rallis as the defensive coordinator.

Rallis was the linebackers coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, the two having worked together the last two seasons. While it's not unusual for a head coach to hire other coaches that he has worked with in the past, Rallis will make history when he is officially hired.

At just 29 years old, Nick Rallis will be the youngest coordinator in the National Football League. When the Eagles hired him as the linebacker's coach at 27 years old, he was the youngest position coach in the league at the time.

The Arizona Cardinals also announced that they had hired Drew Petzing, the former quarterbacks coach for the Cleveland Browns, as the new offensive coordinator.
