The Thanksgiving Day matchup between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions became a letdown performance from rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. The first half saw the Bears completely shut out, with Detroit's defense dominating.
At halftime, the scoreboard reads Lions 16, Bears 0 — a reality that exposed the massive gap between the NFC North rivals. The Bears managed a measly 53 total yards of offense. Williams struggled to complete passes and the team failed to reach a first down until just 55 seconds before halftime.
The Lions' defensive performance was excellent. At one point, they outgained the Bears 253-15, running 42 plays to Chicago's nine. Sam LaPorta scored a 3-yard touchdown from Jared Goff. Jake Bates added three field goals of 30, 36 and 48 yards to build the commanding lead.
Caleb Williams only recorded 34 yards with a 38.5% completion rate. The Lions held the No. 1 draft pick to 13 passing yards and a 45.8 QB rating in the first half.
Fans quickly took to X to share their thoughts about his performance.
"Caleb Williams is a certified bust. This kid fuckin stinks!" - a fan wrote.
Another fan highlighted the QB's statistical letdown;
"Caleb Williams has 6 passing yards in the 2nd quarter of a thanksgiving day game lmao Justin Fields needs an apology," one fan said.
The comparison to former Bears quarterback Justin Fields added salt to the wound.
Technical critiques emerged alongside the emotional comments.
"Caleb Williams has a rocket but no touch," a fan wrote.
"Caleb Williams is horrible. I hope your thanksgiving sucks," one fan wrote.
Some fans went beyond individual criticism
"Bears f****d up," another fan wrote.

Lions' thanksgiving triumph continues as Caleb Williams disappoint
This game was more than just a single matchup. The Lions, who entered with a 10-1 record, has a chance to break their seven-game Thanksgiving Day losing streak. Their offense, led by Ben Johnson, has scored 40 or more points in three of their last five games.
The offensive struggles weren't just about Williams. The Bears' run game collapsed, with D'Andre Swift managing only four carries for 18 yards. This came after a promising performance against the Green Bay Packers.
Interim Bears offensive coordinator Thomas Brown had previously expressed confidence in Williams.
"(Caleb Williams) hasn't even scratched the surface of how good he can be," Brown said on Wednesday, via 670 The Score.
However, the Thanksgiving performance suggested a long road ahead for the young QB and the struggling Bears offense.
