Starting quarterback Justin Herbert has been sidelined this preseason as he's been recovering from a plantar fascia injury in his right foot. With the preseason ending, the Chargers began the process by getting rid of one of their four quarterbacks on the active roster.

Upon finding out that the team released Duggan, fans had split reactions. Some fans never thought Duggan was made for the NFL and didn't think his playstyle would succeed in the NFL.

While some fans didn't mind seeing Max Duggan released from the team, others were surprised by the move and didn't like it.

Some pointed out that he's done a better job than backup Easton Stick, who has been on the team longer than he has. Other fans think it's Jim Harbaugh's way of revenge after Duggan and TCU defeated Michigan in the 2022 semifinal playoff game.

"Should have been Easton stick. He's had so many years to develop and is still worthless," one person wrote.

Bad news came out of Los Angeles regarding starting quarterback Justin Herbert on Aug. 1. Herbert was diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury a month before the start of the 2024 regular season. As a result, Herbert has to wear a walking boot.

However, good news regarding Herbert's status and rehab was given to Chargers fans on Thursday. Head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that Herbert is out of his walking boot, indicating his return is going as scheduled.

Herbert didn't play in the Chargers' preseason game this weekend and likely won't play in their preseason finale. The Chargers are handling his injury on a week-to-week basis.

The Chargers' regular season begins on Sept. 8, as they face the Las Vegas Raiders.
