Could we see Tom Brady back in business? Rob Gronkowski delivers final say

Rob Gronkowski, a former NFL tight end who is Tom Brady's former teammate, shared his thoughts on the quarterback's rumored comeback. Many people believed Brady was finished after his retirement following the previous season.

However, there were growing rumors at the Indianapolis scouting combine that Brady might once more come out of retirement and that the Miami Dolphins were a possible landing spot.

Speaking with Boston.com, Gronkowski, a very close friend of Brady, was asked about the rumors and if he thinks the quarterback could make another surprise return to the NFL.

Gronkowski said:

“That was a surprise when I saw that news. It actually put me on my toes. I was very shocked when I saw that. I feel like Tom is definitely totally done playing. I haven’t talked to him or anything about it. I’m not speaking for Tom. Just from everything I saw from his retirement video and everything I just feel like he is just done playing football. It was just very shocking though when I heard that news the other day.”

So those are Gronkowski's thoughts on his former teammate returning. He does have a good point as everything feels final with Brady now, but never say never and if there is one player who will buck the trend, it's Brady.

If we take everything at face value, then the answer is a yes, he is done with the NFL. Also, keep in mind that when the rumors first started spreading, Brady himself took to Twitter and said:

"Anyone who thinks I have time to come back to the NFL has never adopted a 2 month old kitten for their daughter."

So that basically shuts the door on a return to the NFL...right? So why aren't these rumors going away? As the saying goes, there is no smoke without fire and at this point in time, we have plenty of smoke.

In truth, there is simply no need for the seven-time Super Bowl champion to return to the NFL. He has accomplished literally everything there is to in the game and coming back would only hurt his legacy. Especially after his last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The only time where we will get a definitive answer is when Week 1 starts and the quarterback isn't on an NFL roster.
