Dallas Cowboys defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku isn't losing sleep over the lack of a signed contract with the team that drafted him with the No. 44 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Ezeiruaku's classmate Shemar Stewart has turned down taking the field with the Cincinnati Bengals until his rookie deal is signed.

The Cowboys rookie has a different approach, showing his willingness to help the team however he can while the contract gets sorted out. Reporter Jon Machota shared Ezeiruaku's words on Tuesday on X.

“I’m here doing what I have to do every single day," Ezeiruaku said. "That’s between the organization and my agent. I have full faith that they’re gonna get that done. When it’s ready, it’ll be ready and I’ll sign that piece of paper.”

Talking about his experience during the team's minicamp, the rookie said:

“It’s going really well. I’m living the dream.”

Donovan Ezeiruaku spent his college career with Boston College, improving his level season after season. He finished his career with 215 tackles, 47 for loss and 30.0 sacks in 47 games. He left college as a first-time All-American and the 2024 ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

The Dallas Cowboys have a knack for picking solid pass rushers, and if things go well with Ezeiruaku, their defense will be more dangerous than it already is.

Brian Schottenheimer doesn't mince words when talking about Donovan Ezeiruaku

While he's focused on learning as much as possible from his new team, Donovan Ezeiruaku has earned high praise from his head coach, Brian Schottenheimer.

“He’s doing really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really great," Schottenheimer said on Tuesday. "You can’t watch the guy and not get excited just watching him do the things that we’re doing out there on the grass, the things that we saw coming out of Boston College. And then the work ethic is elite.”

The Dallas Cowboys posted a 7-10 record in the 2024 NFL season, failing to compete against the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders for the division title. After a season full of injuries, including a season-ending hamstring injury to Dak Prescott, the Cowboys are eager to bounce back.

They still have issues to address this offseason, but the spirits appear high within the iconic franchise.
