On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys got off to a slow start in their home opener against the New Orleans Saints. While the offense was having trouble making plays against the Saints, fans believe the officiating crew wasn't helping either.
Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle was attempting to make a play when New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis grabbed his facemask. At one point, Davis held Dowdle's face mask and nearly removed it from his head. The play was shown on the video boards at AT&T Stadium, to the dismay of Dallas fans.
A still shot of the foul was also posted on X by FOX Sports, and fans shared their anger about Demario Davis not being penalized for it. Dallas Cowboys fans filled the comment section of the post on X, saying that the officials never seem to call penalties in their favor.
One Dallas fan referred to the lack of call as the "Cowboys special," as other teams will get the call and they won't. Other fans sent their pleas to the referees to be fair to everyone.
"cowboys fans not having it...that no-call is rough."-declared one fan
"Cowboys special. Were used to it."-proclaimed another fan
"Refs be fair today plz."-pleaded one fan
Fans continued to voice their concerns about the referees not calling for the face mask penalty. Others worried that missed calls, like the one on Rico Dowdle, were going to continue throughout the game and possibly affect the outcome.
"Refs also not calling blatant holding calls like usual."-one fan on X said
"Smh @NFL don’t want us to win this game.. they gotta give sports shows something to talk about for the week..their topics getting dry."-said another fan
"Man I had deal with bad officiating yesterday against LSU. And here we go again. What is it bout Louisiana this weekend."-a frustrated fan said
