Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys fell to their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday, in a blowout 34-6 loss.
The Cowboys were set for an underwhelming performance after the NFL's highest-paid player and their QB, Dak Prescott, was ruled out of the entire season. But not even they could have predicted such a crushing defeat at their home stadium.
After the game, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy spoke about the team's performance. He told them that he was going to call a spade a spade and five turnovers during the game was unacceptable.

βIβm not going to sugarcoat this, you canβt win not taking care of the damn ball. Five turnovers, itβs just unacceptable," Mike McCarthy said.

Fans were outraged at the team not even managing to score in the low double digits. McCarthy, instead of siding with the players, sided with the fans and said that they were right in getting mad at their team.
βOur fans should be angry. Thatβs not what weβre about. ... Iβve never seen anything like this.β
The 3-6 Dallas Cowboys will take on the Houston Texans next week. But before that, will there be a change in the coaching staff considering that calls for Mike McCarthy's firing have only gotten louder?
Jerry Jones dismisses any suggestion of firing Mike McCarthy
After the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked if he would be making a change in his coaching staff, especially reinstating someone else as the Cowboys' coach.
Jones said that he had changed coaches mid-season before but it always ended up making the situation worse and he regretted these decisions whenever he made them. To drive home his point. he cited the examples of Wade Phillips and Chan Gailey.

He said that merely changing the head coach was not the answer.
"Thatβs not enough. You need to give yourself a chance. Iβve had a lot more rope than that, in my time. I havenβt had anybody pull it short on me."
Despite the team's poor record so far in the season, and their playoff debacle last year, Jones was not ready to accept that McCarthy may be the problem.
βMike is a heck of a coach, a great coach in my mind. And has and should have the opportunity to do better than weβre playing right now. I havenβt had good experience changing coaches in the middle of the season.β
So, it seems that the Cowboys are stuck with Mike McCarthy as their HC and Cooper Rush as their QB for the season after handing out the fat paycheck to Dak Prescott.
