Dak Prescott not panicking after Saints destroy Cowboys 44-19 in Dallas

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys couldn't move past the New Orleans Saints, losing 44-19, in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season on Sunday. The Saints continued their good start with another clear victory, dropping 40 points for the second consecutive game after beating the Carolina Panthers 47-10 last week.

Prescott struggled to lead his team to the promised land, but despite the poor performance, he refused to panic and made it clear that the Cowboys would be back on top after the loss.

“We’re gonna learn from it," Prescott said. "That was a good team. Gotta give them credit. This is the NFL. … It’s about trusting the process and responding. I know we have the guys to do that. Honestly excited to get back to work and turn this page."

Dak Prescott struggled mightily, completing 27 of his 39 pass attempts for 293 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, and was sacked three times. He rushed the ball twice for 12 yards.

The Cowboys trailed 35-16 at halftime. Following a terrific debut, a 33-17 win at the Cleveland Browns, they showed their inconsistency again against a team that isn't considered a favorite to compete in the NFC.

Tom Brady defended Dak Prescott after touchdown-leading interception

Right before halftime, Dak Prescott was intercepted by Paulson Adipo, who took the ball from the Saints' 33-yard line to the Cowboys' 20. The pick led to another New Orleans touchdown and a 35-13 lead. Tom Brady, who was in the broadcast booth, defended Prescott for the outcome of that play, putting the blame on the receiver.

"Dak, you never wanna see your receiver slip in a situation like that," Brady said. "That's a lot of trust that you're trying to develop with some of the younger receivers. Not the time, not the place. They had a chance to score, now you're sitting here with a big-time turnover.

"Ball's actually in a good place for him to catch it. You make that throw, you're trusting him to come up with it. He's on the ground. Frustrating for Dallas today."

The Cowboys (1-1) host the struggling Baltimore Ravens (0-2) next Sunday. The season is still young, and they have room for improvement, but they need to make adjustments fast.
