Davante Adams breaks silence about Raiders benching Derek Carr: "Got my bruddas back through whatever"

Davante Adams left the Green Bay Packers to join the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2022 offseason to become one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league and team up with his college teammate Derek Carr.

Adams has lived up to his billing as one of the NFL's premier wide receivers, catching 88 passes for 1,290 yards and 12 touchdowns. However, the Raiders have had a torrid season and are out of the race for a playoff spot after losing 13-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Eve and dropping to 6-9.

On Wednesday, the Raiders announced that Carr would be benched for the team's final two regular-season games, and head coach Josh McDaniels also hinted that the franchise would look for a new franchise quarterback for next season.

Adams reacted to the news on Instagram by posting a series of pictures with Carr with a caption that read:

"This man gave everything he had. The reason I’m a Raider…One of the most disciplined and loving people I know. Got my bruddas back through whatever and if you can’t respect it (excuse my language) f**k you!!! Love u bruh"

Adams was undoubtedly taken aback by the team's decision to move on from Carr.

Will Davante Adams demand a trade?

It's unclear how miffed Davante Adams is and whether he would demand a trade away from the franchise in the offseason.

Adams would undoubtedly have at least half the league vying for his signature. The wide receiver has four years left on the $140 million extension he signed with the Raiders earlier this year. If the team decides to keep Adams, he'll likely have no choice but to stay put and play for the Raiders next season.

However, they could decide to shed his hefty contract and get some draft capital in return to draft a quarterback in the first round or rebuild the roster and have cap flexibility. There's no indication yet from Davante Adams or the team that they will be parting ways in 2023, so only time will tell whether the wide receiver will be plying his trade in Las Vegas next season.

But that hasn't stopped one NFL fanbase from imploring Adams to join them for the 2023 season.
