Free agent quarterback Cam Newton has been in the limelight for his game and his complicated personal life. Having seen his share of controversies, Newton has experienced a number of trolls on social media. He remains fairly active on social media, which either features him, the NFL or his children.
Although he spends a lot of time with his children, Newton is yet to tie the knot. While he has dated a few people, there has been a good amount of controversy circling his dating life. Rumors also hinted at him cheating and causing problems in his ongoing relationships.
His most notable and famous relationship was with Shakia ‘Kia’ Proctor, who is also the mother of most of his children. They got together in 2013, and were often seen spending some time together. While they did shy away from sharing details about their relationship online, they attended the 2014 NFL Honors together.
Their first son, Chosen Sebastian Newton, was born in 2015. Now, while Newton's relationship with Proctor lasted till 2019, they did not get married. In fact, they even split for some time in 2017. Sovereign-Dior Cambella, Camidas Swain Newton and Cashmere Saint Newton were born in 2016, 2018 and 2019 respectively. Despite their issues later on, Newton ended up adopting Kia's daughter, Shakira.
During an interview, Newton spoke at length about Kia and why he hasn't married the mother of his children:
“That’s a great question…The thing is that person that I was while we were having children together, I couldn’t be the best husband. I wasn’t prepared to be a husband then.”
Newton continued:
“I seen Kia really evolving into a woman where her standards were, ‘I ain’t just no baby mama,' And when she kept putting pressure on me I was like, ‘I don’t know if this is what I really want.'"
Newton has two other children from different relationships. However, as of now, the NFL QB is apparently single and unmarried.
Who else has Cam Newton dated?
In 2011, before Cam Newton dated Kia, he was allegedly dating TV star Angela Simmons. However, neither confirmed or denied their relationship, apparently dating for several months before parting ways.
Newton was also linked to singer Ciara, who is now married to Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson. They apparently dated in 2012, but ended up breaking up before the year ended. As mentioned earlier, Newton started dating Kia in 2013.
They briefly split in 2017, when the QB got together with model Rubi Rose. However, they ended up parting ways in five months. Later, Cam Newton reconciled with Kia.
As per reports, they broke up after he cheated on her with La Reina Shaw and also had a child with her. Newton met Shaw in Atlanta as she lived in an apartment above his restaurant. They attended a 2020 New Year's Eve party together and their son, Caesar Lorenzo Newton, was born on July 4, 2019.
Despite staying away from marriage, Cam Newton does take pride in being a father. His children are always in his mentions and the 33-year-old spends time with them whenever he can.
