"Dollar value is getting higher" - Joe Burrow addresses Aaron Rodgers' stalled Jets trade

Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow and Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana made an appearance on NBC's "The Today Show" on Friday morning.

The two quarterbacks were there to talk about their work with City Harvest and the impact they are having on their communities. They also discussed the importance of resolving the issues of food insecurity across the country.

Towards the end of the interview, co-host Craig Melvin asked Burrow about the recent news in the NFL. In particular, Aaron Rodgers' stalled trade to the New York Jets and Jimmy Garoppolo signing with the Raiders.

Joe Burrow said that he thinks it is an exciting time to be a quarterback in the NFL as the monetary value of the position continues to go up. While not mentioning any other quarterbacks by name, he also said that there are more quarterbacks entering the NFL that are ready to start from day one.

"Well I think it's an exciting time for for quarterbacks in the league because you know the market is getting higher and higher, the dollar value is getting higher and higher, and that's pushing the league forward and pushing guys forward.

"There's more and more quarterbacks coming in this this day and age that are are well equipped to come in and be starters immediately and play well early.

"I think that has to do with the way the game is being coached and grown from the youth level. Guys are throwing the ball, more guys are throwing and catching the receivers, again better, so I think it's just an exciting time for the game.

With Joe Burrow in line for contract extension, what could a deal look like?

Although his rookie season in 2020 saw him tear his ACL and miss the remainder of the season, Joe Burrow has had a very successful start to his NFL career.

An AFC title and a trip to the Super Bowl in his second season and nearly a second conference title in 2022, puts him in line for a contract extension.

The first overall draft pick should see quite a lucrative payday too. With New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones receiving upwards of $40 million per year, the Bengals will need to reward Burrow for his success.

With the contracts that are currently being signed this offseason, Joe Burrow will likely see a contract extension that pays between $50-$60 million per season.
