Kelvin Joseph Jr. may not be widely known among NFL fans, but he has drawn attention for the wrong reasons. Early Saturday morning, the former Dallas Cowboys cornerback was arrested after a traffic collision along Interstate 75 that killed a motorcyclist.

According to WFAA, Richardson police were called to the site of the accident just before 5 am. There, they found the body of Cody Morris. Then, around 39 minutes later, Plano police received a call from Joseph, who then said that he had been involved.

The police then determined that he had been driving a BMW northbound when he made contact. When officers got there, they found him showing signs of intoxication and arrested him for DWI and a collision involving personal injury or death. No bond has been set as of this writing.

Joseph currently plays for the UFL's DC Defenders, who will play the St. Louis Battlehawks in the XFL Conference Championship on Sunday. When asked for comment on the incident, the team issued the following statement:

"We are aware of the incident and are gathering information. We have no further comment at this time."

A brief overview of Kelvin Joseph Jr.'s past legal trouble

This is not Kelvin Joseph Jr.'s first time getting into trouble with the law. In April 2022, while Joseph was still playing in the NFL for the Cowboys, Dallas police had declared him a "person of interest" in a shooting the previous month that killed a man named Cameron Ray.

His lawyer, Barry Sorrels, later acknowledged that Joseph was a passenger in the perpetrators' vehicle, but did not fire any shots. Meanwhile, the Cowboys issued this statement:

"First and foremost, our hearts go out to Mr. Ray's family and loved ones. The organization is aware of Kelvin Joseph's possible connection to this incident. We are in contact with Dallas law enforcement and have alerted the NFL office. We have no further comment at this time."
