Tom Brady spent the first 20 seasons of his NFL career with the New England Patriots, winning six Super Bowls with the franchise. His first came in Super Bowl 36 as the Patriots defeated the St. Louis Rams by a score of 20 -17. However, one former teammate of Brady's had quite the take on that Super Bowl victory. Former Patriots cornerback and Hall of Famer Ty Law said the team was going to win the game whether Brady started or not.
In a September 2020 interview, Law commented that Brady didn't do much in that game versus the Rams in the win.
Law said:
“If Drew Bledsoe was playing we would have still won. No disrespect, everyone knows Tom is the greatest, what did he do that game besides the last [drive]? 146 yards passing. Hell, me and you can go out there and get 140. … I am not saying that he didn’t play great. I am just saying I agree with [Jermaine Wiggins] when it comes to if Drew Bledsoe was playing quarterback at that time and that game we would have still won."
Brady led the team on a nine-play, 53-yard drive to set up kicker Adam Vinatieri's game-winning 48-yard field goal. The former Michigan Wolverines star won the Super Bowl MVP award, throwing for 145 yards and a touchdown in the game. Earlier in the 2001 - 2002 season, Brady replaced Drew Bledsoe as the team's starting quarterback.
Despite Law's comments about the Super Bowl victory, he and Brady were successful as teammates in New England.

Tom Brady and Ty Law spent four seasons together with the Patriots from 2001 - 2004, winning two more Lombardi Trophies. The duo were integral parts of the three total Super Bowl wins in that stretch. Law made the Pro Bowl in three of his four seasons together with Tom Brady. Overall, Law spent the first decade of his NFL career with the Patriots.
He spent two seasons each with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs before playing his final season with the Denver Broncos. Ty Law was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019. Law's former Patriots teammate will likely join him there once he hangs up the cleats.
