Lamar Jackson's 2022 season might be rockier than expected. While the Baltimore Ravens aren't doing badly, fans have been harsh on Jackson and his game. The same applied after the Week 12, 28-27 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Apparently, a few people online thought he was unworthy of leading the team after the narrow loss. Following a now-deleted response from the quarterback, Jackson was called out for homophobic comments. While many agreed that Lamar Jackson could have used more tact, some stood by the NFL star. Some fans have been supporting the 25-year-old on social media, referring to the homophobic label as unfair to their star QB:

Most fans said that what Jackson said did not make him homophobic, and it was just him getting mad at a troll. Furthermore, some fans even wondered if those words could even be considered homophobia.

Furthermore, fans wondered if people were just trying to get Jackson canceled for something he said. They even wanted Jackson to sue the people who defamed him, with some sharing positive content about the 25-year-old.

Most were against Jackson's statement entirely, seeing casual homophobia in his words. Others thought that Jackson, as a leader, should not have made such a statement, comparing him to players like Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.

Despite his words being open to interpretation, Jackson made it clear to everyone that he does not believe them to be homophobic. Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho chimed in on the wider situation, stating that he was indeed worried for Jackson:

"It's cool to wear your emotions on your sleeve. But that Lamar Jackson tweet is a prime example of when keeping it real goes way wrong. You can't keep it all the way real."

Acho continued:

"Because if I'm a billion dollar owner, and I'm looking on your social media, see, and you're telling fans to go eat X, Y and Z, and now you're being accused of homophobic tweets, that is going to be problematic."

While we cannot speak to Jackson's intent, his anger-filled words can prove to be problematic for him. Especially when he is playing for a new contract. We will see if there is more to add to this storyline over the coming days.
