In Week 12, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens suffered another loss where their defense wasn't able to preserve a lead. Due to this, emotions were high for everyone on the Ravens team, and Jackson found himself in a very awkward situation.

A fan on social media claimed that Jackson doesn't deserve a new contract as the team is not winning games under his leadership. In response, the Ravens quarterback tweeted out an abusive-laden reply that caught everyone's attention.

Jackson later deleted his tweet, but everyone saw it and later criticized him for using such language. Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho was also upset with Jackson for tweeting that reply. Here's what Acho said on Speak about Lamar Jackson's tweet:

"I'm worried about Lamar for several reasons. He hasn't made money this year reportedly offered $180 million guaranteed this offseason, and he turned it down. But if you're turned down $180 million, you better turn it down to go out there and ball on the football field."

Acho added:

"Furthermore, it's cool to wear your emotions on your sleeve. But that Lamar Jackson tweet is a prime example of when keeping it real goes way wrong. You can't keep it all the way real."

He continued:

"Because if I'm a billion dollar owner, and I'm looking on your social media, see, and you're telling fans to go eat X, Y and Z, and now you're being accused of homophobic tweets, that is going to be problematic."

Emmanuel Acho is certainly right, because Lamar Jackson is playing for a new contract. If he continues to go after fans like this, the Baltimore Ravens will have leverage over him as other owners might try to avoid signing him.

Jackson did reject an offer from the Ravens prior to this season, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he signs somewhere else. However, for that to be possible, he needs to be disciplined both on and off the field.

John Harbaugh gives his verdict on Lamar Jackson's situation

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh also gave his verdict on the situation surrounding his quarterback and said this:

"I heard about it last night and talked to him this morning. I just beg guys not to get into the Twitter world, especially after a loss. It's not going to be positive. I think that's reflective in his response."

Like Acho, Harbaugh is also advising Jackson to stay away from Twitter as it might distract him. Many players tend to avoid having interactions with fans on social media and it is due to this factor only.

Hopefully, Lamar Jackson will learn from this and going forward will avoid landing himself in such situations. The Ravens will face the Denver Broncos up next and they have a great chance of redeeming themselves.
