Travis Hunter has yet to play a down in the NFL, but he's already generating headlines. This time, not for a highlight-reel catch or interception, but for some viral dance moves at Jacksonville Jaguars OTAs.

A video surfaced Sunday showing the rookie dancing and celebrating during drills. The clip quickly made waves across social media, with fans fiercely divided over whether the former Colorado star was having fun or showing a lack of focus.

The most brutal criticism came from fans questioning Hunter's draft status:

"First round bust," one fan said.
"Shedeur is like 100x worse than this at the browns practice," another fan said.
"Not going to take long before the clown show gets tiring - he'll stop when a linebacker lights his ass up," one fan said.

But just as quickly, defenders of Hunter’s personality and play style pushed back.

"And than he destroys em on the field, also dances after he does it," one fan said.
"What if dancing helps him focus….people ARE different," another fan said.
"Hunter got paid so he must still be celebrating. Once the season starts he will be just fine," one fan said.

Despite the controversy, Jaguars coach Liam Coen isn’t sweating the headlines — or the dancing. Coen praised Hunter’s intelligence, retention skills, and work ethic during the team’s latest OTA sessions, where the rookie is being eased into a unique two-way NFL role.

“Yeah, a ton of learning. So much learning. They're doing a ton of extra. Like you walk out here," Coed told reporters as per SI.com. "I think it was about seven this morning, got finished working out and saw [QB] Trevor Lawrence and [WR/DB] Travis Hunter out here walking through"

Jacksonville has designed 15-minute daily developmental periods after practice specifically for rookies to absorb the offensive and defensive playbooks. Hunter, listed as the Jaguars’ starting slot receiver and backup outside cornerback, has attended defensive meetings consistently, even when his physical reps are on offense.

“He’s a really, really bright guy,” added defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.

Coen emphasized that Travis Hunter isn’t being asked to play both sides of the ball on the same day during OTAs. The team wants to gradually ramp up his responsibilities and avoid overwhelming him this early in his NFL journey.

Travis Hunter’s collegiate resume supports the move. In 2024, he recorded 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense while adding four interceptions and 36 tackles.

Even seasoned NFL stars are weighing in. Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby recently offered advice during a podcast appearance. He urged the Jaguars to limit Hunter’s usage early and focus on developing one position before expanding his responsibilities.
