At one point, Billy Price had the NFL world at his feet. However, several injuries and poor performances made him a journeyman of sorts. Price appeared on the books of six different NFL franchises in his seven-year career.

Cincinnati Bengals picked the Ohio State graduate in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. He played with the Bengals for the next three seasons but failed to nail down a position for himself in different franchises over the next few years. Now, the 29-year-old has hung up his cleats for a heartbreaking reason.

On 25th May, Price announced his retirement from pro football Instagram. He also revealed he is in a health battle to stay alive.

“As a healthy 29 year old, an unprovoked pulmonary embolism with no further medical explanation is terrifying. I am truly thankful to be alive today,” The 2017 unanimous All-American wrote.
“Unfortunately, I will be retiring from the NFL as the risk of an internal bleed while on blood thinners creates tremendous risk.”

Price played the last season of his career with the Dallas Cowboys. However, he was restricted to the practice squad and did not get game time. His final appearance on the gridiron was with the Arizona Cardinals in the 2022 season.

Billy Price takes the time to appreciate his wife

Price got married in June 2019 to his longtime girlfriend, Taylor Michelle Price. She has stood by him in this difficult time. While announcing his retirement, the former center specially mentioned his wife.

“To my wife: this career would not have been possible without your continued love and support. The sacrifices you have made over the course of my career do not go unnoticed,” Price wrote.
“I cannot wait to navigate the next chapter in life with you as we continue to grow our family.”

Per his doctor’s advice, Price’s condition is expected to be stable unless he participates in physically strenuous activities.
