Has Patrick Mahomes surpassed Tom Brady already? NFL analyst changes mind after Super Bowl LVII

Patrick Mahomes has done what so many quarterbacks have failed to do. In just about half a decade, the quarterback has now hoisted two Lombardi trophies. The idea of the accomplishment had already begun to turn heads, but now that it has come to pass, one NFL analyst has decided to endorse the quarterback as having passed two GOATs.

Here's how NFL analyst Ryan Clark put it on "Sportscenter with Scott Van Pelt":

"To me, Patrick Mahomes is already in the top three of all time. You're going to include him in conversations with Joe Montana and Tom Brady. But then when you look at both of those players as compared to Patrick Mahomes and the skill set and the things that he can do ... that we've never seen, I don't believe that it’s close."

Will Patrick Mahomes win more Lombardi trophies than Tom Brady, who has a record seven?

Ryan said that it was essentially just a matter of time until No. 12 and No. 15 found themselves in the same conversation:

"And so now as he continues to win, (and) lead, he's going to creep closer to what Tom Brady has done. Will he ever eclipse the GOAT? I'm not sure, because we still have to see that. Has he done everything to put himself in that conversation? Absolutely."

Did Patrick Mahomes reach two Super Bowl victories faster than Tom Brady?

Super Bowl LVII: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Chiefs quarterback was drafted in 2017 and by the end of the 2022 season, he had earned two rings and three Super Bowl appearances. Meanwhile, No. 12 was drafted in 2000 and took until the end of the 2003 season to earn his second ring.

Put simply, it took Mahomes five years to earn two rings, and it took Tom Brady three years. That said, the Chiefs quarterback did come within one game of getting a third ring but fell at the hands of No. 12. However, even adding that into the equation, the former Patriots quarterback had already earned three rings by the end of the 2004 season.

Of course, after 2004, it took 10 years for No. 12 to win his next ring. If No. 15 is going to make up the distance, now is essentially the time.
