Has Russell Wilson lost the locker room? NFL insider reveals Broncos’ state after meek loss vs Panthers

Russell Wilson's first season in Denver has been a disaster. The former Seahawks quarterback came in with high expectations, but so far he has been extremely underwhelming. The Denver Broncos are 3-8 heading into Week 13 and are on pace to finish last in their division. In the 23-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Wilson was being yelled at by a teammate for the offensive issues.

NFL Insider Tom Pelissero thinks that Wilson has lost the locker room in Denver:

“Russ has lost some people around that team. He has lost some people in that locker room.”

Head coach Nathaniel Hackett is under immense pressure but the man who is getting the most criticism is Russell Wilson. He is the highest-paid player on the Denver Broncos, and as a result, his teammates expect him to play at a higher level. Wilson has a passer rating of 82.3 with 2,369 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions in 10 games.

The Broncos will face the Baltimore Ravens up next, and getting a win against them seems highly unlikely. However, Wilson can reduce the pressure on him by putting in a good performance against a defense that has been vulnerable this season.

Who yelled at Russell Wilson in Week 12?

Russell Wilson was yelled at by nose tackle Mike Purcell. The 31-year-old was visibly upset with the team's inability to score points and leashed out at the quarterback. Wilson later cleared the air in that confrontation and said:

"Mike and I are on the same page, you know, we, he came off, you know, after they kicked the field goal and he was he was p*ssed off, he was just sad."

Here's the incident in question:

Although Wilson has claimed that everything is good with Purcell, the locker room is certainly upset. The Broncos have the worst offense in the league and a large part of it has been due to Wilson.

Denver fans will hope that Wilson will be able to turn this thing around after a poor start, but as of now, the future looks quite bleak for the franchise. They don't even have their first- and second-round picks for next year's draft, as they traded them away to acquire Wilson from Seattle.

We will see if Wilson can change the narrative in the coming weeks.
