"He is a psycho" - Kyle Shanahan reviews Christian McCaffrey’s full-speed return after injury concerns during 49ers OTAs

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey did not have a memorable 2024 NFL season. The star was dealing with multiple injuries and was only able to play four games. However, McCaffrey seems fit this offseason and is hoping to jump back to form when the upcoming campaign kicks off.

After Tuesday's minicamps, the media asked the Niners coach, Kyle Shanahan, about Christian McCaffrey's health and recovery. Shanahan called the RB a "psycho," ready to remind everyone who he is.

“If I said it, I’d be making up because Christian is — I mean, he is a psycho in a good way and so, like, he does everything imaginable every single day,” Shanahan said, via transcript from the team.

“Last year, he couldn’t because he was battling injury all last year. And this year, he is healthy, so he is right back to being who he is, always been and it’s really fun to watch.” [H/T: NBC Sports]

NFL insider believes Christian McCaffrey's return could reignite the Niners' Super Bowl dreams

After missing most of the 2024 season, Christian McCaffrey is back on the field for the OTAs. NFL insider Kay Adams believes that this comeback could help the San Francisco 49ers make a championship run.

Speaking on her "Up & Adams Show" on Monday, the host of the show said:

“Christian McCaffrey back on a football field … He wants it more than anybody else. Kyle Shanahan says he’s as healthy as can be ... John Lynch said he looked explosive. That’s the word he used.”

She added:

"But they were 20 and six over the last three years when they have Brock, who's happy paid. Everyone loves it when they have CMC and Kittle. 20 and six over the last three years when these cats are in the lineup together. So did I just make this a whole case that they should be contenders? Yes, they should be."

It'll be interesting to see how far the 49ers go this season with McCaffrey back to full health.
