How many times have the Eagles been to the Super Bowl?

Despite being among the NFL's most dominant teams over the last 30 years, the Philadelphia Eagles do not really have enough trophies to show for their dominance. The Eagles have only made it to the Super Bowl a handful of times since the inaugural Super Bowl was contested in 1967, despite having more than 20 campaigns with double-digit wins.

A golden chance to capture their fifth title but just their second Super Bowl awaits the Eagles as they prepare for their matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LVII. Before the Super Bowl, the Eagles were NFL winners in 1948, 1949, and 1960. Three of those championships were won before the introduction of the Super Bowl in 1966, though.

The Philadelphia Eagles have only ever captured the Super Bowl once. In 2018, they won Super Bowl LII, beating the New England Patriots 41–33.

Philadelphia was anchored by second-string quarterback Nick Foles, who took over for starting QB Carson Wentz when he tore his ACL during the regular season, ending his season.

The Eagles have made another Super Bowl appearance with eight players still in their 2018 squad, five years after winning their first championship.

When the Eagles claimed the NFC title at the conclusion of the 2017 campaign to go to Super Bowl LII, they were 0-2 in Super Bowl appearances. For Philadelphia fans, the later part of the campaign felt like another disaster waiting to happen.

Carson Wentz was the leading MVP contender when he tore his ACL late in the regular season. In their remaining three regular-season games under Foles, the Eagles went 2-1.

Foles then excelled in a dramatic Super Bowl. The combined 1,151 yards between the New England Patriots and Eagles was the most in an NFL game in history. Foles passed for 373 yards and three scores and received MVP honors for the Super Bowl.

Who did the Eagles face in previous Super Bowls?

The Philadelphia Eagles' first two Super Bowl outings didn't have the same successful outcome as their most recent one. The Eagles were beaten by the Oakland Raiders 27-10 in Super Bowl XV (1981) as the Raiders became the first wild-card club to win the Super Bowl.

Before the Eagles would have another opportunity, 24 years passed. They faced the outstanding New England Patriots team in Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005 but lost 24-21.

In 2018, they played the Patriots once more but prevailed this time. Despite his team's loss, Tom Brady of the Patriots threw for a staggering 505 yards and three scores.
