Bill Belichick's job may have been the most stable in NFL history at one point, but the glue holding him down could be starting to weaken. At least that is the opinion of NFL analyst Mike Florio. Speaking on "Pro Football Talk," the show host outlined that his recent history hasn't been up to snuff. Here's how he put it:

"I don't know how many more years Bill Belichick has of mediocrity, of missed playoffs, of no playoff victories. It was Robert Kraft, the owner of the team, who said last March that he's bothered by the fact that they've gone three years without a postseason victory."

He continued, explaining that the team is heading for a crossroad:

"At some point, something's got to give. You got to prove that you are a guy who can win football games without Tom Brady. The numbers are just dramatically different... when he had Tom Brady, the Patriots were a hell of a lot better than when Bill Belichick hasn't had Tom Brady."

Taken at face value, the team's ability to win in 2022 hasn't been the worst of the coach's time in New England. However, when looking at the big picture, it is clear that the team is in a down era. From 2000 to 2019, the team missed the playoffs three times.

Since 2020, the team has missed the playoffs twice and lost in the Wild Card round once. In other words, the team has only played one more game than the minimum number of allotted games in a season and in their lone playoff appearance, they lost 47-17 to their division rivals, the Buffalo Bills.
