Quarterback Dak Prescott will enter his 10th year with the Dallas Cowboys this upcoming season. They drafted him in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Despite having limited success, the three-time Pro Bowler is yet to win a major trophy with the Cowboys.

As the Dallas Cowboys begin mandatory minicamp, Prescott shared his goals for the upcoming season. On Thursday, he opened up about wanting to win a championship and considers it a bigger priority than creating a legacy.

"I want to win a championship," Prescott said. "The legacy, the things, whatever comes after I finish playing will take care of itself. I want to win a championship. Be damned if it's just for my legacy, or if it's for this team, for my personal being, for my sanity. Yeah, the legacy will take care of itself. I have to stay where my feet are."

However, ESPN's Stephen A.Smith wasn't impressed with Dak Prescott's bold offseason talk. On Friday's episode of First Take, he called out the Cowboys quarterback, stating that it's a repeat of what he proclaims every year.

"Well, what the helll was he supposed to say? 'I want to lose?'" Smith said (2:50). "It's the same old stuff with this guy. Listen, he's the biggest wasted quote in professional sports. He is the one quarterback if I could petition the NFL to say don't let a quarterback talk, because you get nothing from him.

In nine seasons, Dak Prescott has led the Cowboys to five playoff appearances, but they have fallen short of competing in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl.

Last season, the quarterback played just eight games before missing the rest of the campaign due to a hamstring injury. The Cowboys failed to qualify for the playoffs following an underwhelming 7-10 season.

Dak Prescott has high praise for new teammate George Pickens

The Cowboys acquired wide receiver George Pickens from the Steelers in May. With him alongside CeeDee Lamb on the field, Prescott has a dynamic duo to create offensive plays.

George Pickens has been criticized for his misconduct during his stint with the Steelers. However, Dak Prescotr showcased his support for his new teammate despite the negativity.

"That's why I don't think you should every really listen to what somebody else says about somebody," Prescott said. "I think you should judge everyone, not judge but find out yourself who they are and allow them to reveal their character to you.

"The guy, he's been great, he's been phenomenal. He's a guy that loves football, loves his teammates. ... He's one of us. He's a brother, and it's just about continuing to grow and make sure we're putting the best out there."

The Cowboys haven't made a Super Bowl appearance since 1996. Only time will tell if Dak Prescott realizes his dream of lifting the Lombardi Trophy with the franchise this upcoming season.
