“He on the BS early!” – Jets star clowns Elon Musk over monthly charge for Twitter verification

It has only been a few days, but New York Jets rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson is already growing tired of the new leadership at Twitter. Since Elon Musk took over the site, he's made sweeping changes and intends to make many more.

One such change is that the Tesla Motors CEO would charge users a monthly fee to keep their verified blue check. The blue check exists so that famous people can differentiate their accounts from fake ones or fan accounts.

Initially, Musk wanted to charge more, but has since confirmed he will be charging $8 a month for users to maintain their verified status. This is something the Jets pass catcher is none too pleased with. Wilson tweeted:

"$8/month for me to prove that I am me? He on the BS early!"

The idea of charging users for a verified check mark likely goes against the idea that Twitter creator Jack Dorsey had when he came up with it. There are so many fake accounts on the site that without a blue check mark, many prominent figures would have no way of proving their identity. It's been an important part of the social media platform and has been on other sites as well. Musk intends to continue growing his fortune on that idea.

When will Jets wideout Garrett Wilson have to begin paying for his verified status?

Currently, there is no timetable for when this change will take place. However, it is almost assuredly going to happen, as Musk tweeted out:

"Twitter's current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn't have a blue checkmark is b******t. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month."

It's likely going to take a bit of time for the billionaire to implement all the changes he wants to, and the price subscription for verified accounts is one of them.

He immediately began making changes to the site, but there's still a way to go. When he does begin charging, Garrett Wilson may find himself looking for a new platform if he truly doesn't want to pay for verified status.
