Lamar Jackson may be on the move now that he has once again been unable to negotiate a contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens. It has been rumored that some teams would not be interested in trading for the 26-year-old quarterback. But where would Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots stand on this matter?

According to MassLive Patriots reporter Mark Daniels, Belichick and the Patriots wouldn't be quick to consider a trade for Jackson. Daniels said that the Patriots would be responsible for paying the quarterback about $40 million a year and also giving away first-round draft picks to acquire him.

"For the Patriots, it doesn’t make sense to add a quarterback to the roster who will take up that much cap space. Right now, the team has Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe signed to rookie deals. The Patriots are in a situation where they can spend elsewhere on their roster considering they’re not paying a quarterback big money."-Mark Daniels

The Patriots have Mac Jones as the starter and Bailey Zappe as a capable backup, and both are still on rookie contracts. Daniels added that New England could use the draft picks and the available salary cap space to add to their roster instead of upgrading their quarterback.

Daniels added that the advantage of having young quarterbacks on rookie deals is to spend the money to build around them before paying them.

So it appears that Lamar Jackson to the New England Patriots won't be the next breaking news.

It seems that the Lamar Jackson contract negotiations and franchise tag saga have immersed the NFL world and even beyond. UFC president Dana White appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday afternoon and was asked if he felt that it was necessary to have a sports agent. The Ravens quarterback doesn't have representation and has been handling the contract negotiations himself.

White said that while it's not completely mandatory to have an agent during negotiations, it is a good idea to have a trusted lawyer present to work out the details of the contract.
