Lamar Jackson was recently caught off-guard when former WWE wrestler and current AEW star Chris Jericho called him out at an event in Maryland. During a promo seeking an opponent for his Ring of Honor World Championship title, Jericho started listing individuals he was willing to up against. Suddenly, he named the Baltimore Ravens star.

Jackson, who was attending the show, seemed to have been caught off guard by the wrestler's challenge. The camera quickly panned to the quarterback when Jericho said that he would "whip Lamar Jackson's a**" for the title.

While the quarterback proceeded to hide himself from the gaze of the cameras, he recently addressed the matter during the Ravens' latest press conference:

"I got called out. I wasn't thinking he was going to call me out. I didn't really hear what he said at first. When my friends told me I was laughing."

Thankfully, the Ravens saw the funny side of the matter and even went on to say that he enjoyed it, being a wrestling fan:

"It was crazy. I enjoyed it though as growing up, I was a huge fan of wrestling."

Lamar Jackson acknowledges impact of losing Rashod Bateman to season-ending injury: "That’s my guy"

Lamar Jackson has gotten off to an electrifying start in the 2022 NFL season. With 15 TDs to his name already, the quarterback looked set to form a formidable duo with young wideout Rashod Bateman.

But as luck would have it, the Ravens 27th overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft has now been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign. As per league insider Adam Schefter, surgery to address a nagging foot injury will cut short the wide receiver's 2022 campaign.

When questioned about the impact Bateman's injury would have on the Ravens' season, the former NFL MVP expressed his regret. However, he made it clear that he was looking forward to working with the rest of the wideout room in hopes of a playoff berth.

Together, the quarterback-wide receiver duo combined for 285 passing yards and two touchdowns this season. The wideout's injury now impacts an already paper-thin Ravens wide receiver core. Leading with Devin Duvernay and DeMarcus Robinson as their starting options, it will be interesting to see the team's gameplan going forward.
