Matt Barnes spits on ex-NFL player and fiancée's ex before Cowboys vs. 49ers (VIDEO)

Former NBA player Matt Barnes was present for the big NFL Divisional Clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers. However, his presence there created quite a stir as he confronted his fiancée's ex outside the stadium. He was seen spitting at the opposing party.

His fiancée's ex, David Patterson Jr., accused him of assault and police were called to the scene. An investigation remains ongoing. For his part, Matt Barnes filed a temporary restraining order against Patterson on Tuesday, saying that it was Patterson who had been the aggressor.

Accusing Patterson of jealousy for having a relationship with his ex-wife, Barnes said:

"He shoved me, and I was forced to push him off of me. ... I did not want the altercation to physically escalate further, and out of frustration with him seeking me out and his unrelenting repeated harassment I spit in his direction in disgust."

Barnes also said it was Patterson who had initiated the threat to shoot him. Barnes wants a protective order from a judge that needs Patterson to stay 100 yards away. See the full altercation below.

Who is Matt Barnes' fiancée, Anansa Sims?

Anansa Sims is model Beverly Johnson's daughter. She was married to David Patterson, a former footballer who played as a defensive end for the Atlanta Falcons and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. He played college football at Ohio State. They have three children together. When they were together, they appeared on "Beverly's Full House" when they were married.

They were married from 2010 to 2017 but their relationship has gone downhill since. Matt Barnes has been at the center of the controversy. Even before the restraining order was filed just now, in October 2022, David Patterson filed for a restraining order against Barnes, saying he was mistreating their children. Anansa Sims apparently also has a three-year restraining order against her ex-husband for her and their children's protection. Reportedly, Matt Barnes also has a restraining order against his ex-wife Gloria Govan.

It seems that the entire situation has devolved out of control and it came to a head before the NFL game between the 49ers and the Cowboys. Hopefully, this will be speedily resolved before they become even uglier.

It distracted from a fantastic game on Sunday when the two teams battled it out with San Francisco emerging victorious. They will now play the Philadelphia Eagles to get a chance to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, where they will face either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Cincinnati Bengals as AFC representatives.
