“Some kind of conspiracy theory is going on here” – Packers refusing to help Aaron Rodgers is ‘personal’, Michael Irvin claims

The Green Bay Packers were unable to help out quarterback Aaron Rodgers before the trade deadline ended yesterday at 4:00 PM ET.

While many receivers such as Chase Claypool, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Calvin Ridley, and even tight end T.J. Hockenson were dealt yesterday, the Packers didn't add any skilled players, specifically at the receiver position to help out Rodgers.

On Monday’s broadcast of ESPN’s "First Take," former NFL wide receiver and current analyst Michael Irvin questioned why Green Bay wasn't aggressive in making a move to help out Rodgers:

"I’m starting to really believe there’s something here. You go back-to-back MVPs. This dude went back-to-back MVPs and you take away his best target. You’re playing a guy like Josh Allen, [the Bills are] all in on Josh Allen. They went and got him players. They went and got him Stefon Diggs and then Gabe Davis.

"I don’t see [the Packers] doing this for Aaron Rodgers. I’m starting to think some kind of conspiracy theory is going on here. … He’s coming off of back-to-back MVPs. How are we going to minimize a back-to-back MVP [winner]? It’s something personal going on in Green Bay."

Irvin added that he doesn't know how Green Bay went into the season with the lack of star power that they had. Irvin expected them to have a rough start, but not this rough:

"I’m just saying, there’s no way you get this guy and you put him in that situation. ... I don’t know how they came into this season thinking that they got the back-to-back MVP and what they gave him is good enough.

"I knew the Packers were going to have a tough go, but no one expected them to be here at this place right now with what they look like on the football field."

The Green Bay Packers offered their 2023 second-round pick for Chase Claypool

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers.

While the Packers didn't make any trades leading up to the deadline, they reportedly offered the Pittsburgh Steelers their second-round pick for wide receiver Chase Claypool.

The Steelers were ready to accept Green Bay's offer before the Bears offered the same deal, with the Steelers thinking that the Bears' pick would be higher.

Green Bay is yet to replace the void for star wide receiver Davante Adams. They signed veteran wideout Sammy Watkins in free agency as well as drafting Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.

None of these guys have cemented themselves as receiver one, and Green Bay is still looking for a playmaker at the position.
