Mike Florio demands NFL cancel suspended MNF game

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio has given his thoughts on what should happen with the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals game after it was suspended Monday night.

With the health and welfare of Damar Hamlin, many have wondered exactly how or even if the game can go ahead again. Some have said the game could be played this week (not likely), while others have demanded that the game be declared a tie.

Who are the current Super Bowl favorites?

Florio, in a piece for PFT, stated that neither team should have to play the game again.

"Neither the Bills nor the Bengals should be expected to play again until the appropriate medical professionals believe that the men who were directly affected by last night’s events are able to do so," Florio wrote.

Given the gravity of the situation on the field Monday night, the last thing on any Bills or Bengals player's mind is playing football.

As Florio pointed out later in his piece, the mental welfare of those players who witnessed the incident last night should take precedence over anything the NFL wants to do.

When we look at what happened Monday night, it reminds us that it is only a game. As many have articulated, the health and safety of Hamlin and every player on both the Bills and Bengals rosters take higher priority over everything else.

If the game is canceled or is called a tie, that is likely the best outcome for both. Despite the game having huge AFC playoff implications and will likely help or hinder each team's chances, that doesn't matter anymore. Nothing does but the welfare of Hamlin and the players from Monday night.

Whatever the outcome, we all hope that Hamlin has a speedy recovery and we are all sending our love and prayers to him, his teammates, and his family.

As the PFT analyst stated, the game can't go ahead until everyone involved is okay to do so.
