Kellen Moore served as the Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator from 2019-2022 after beginning his career as the quarterbacks coach in 2018.

He left this off-season for the same role in Los Angeles, joining the Chargers and head coach Brandon Staley.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy threw shade at his former offensive coordinator by saying Moore always wanted to light the scoreboard up while he wanted to run the ball.

Via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News:

"I've been where Kellen's been. Kellen wants to light the scoreboard up, but I want him to run the damn ball so I can rest my defense."

This caused Undisputed hosts Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless to talk about McCarthy's comments with Sharpe siding with Moore.

Sharpe said:

"Mike McCarthy is full of ish. In 2010 they were 24th in the league in rushing, they were fifth in passing. I thought you like to run the ball? That ain't how you win a Super Bowl. You look at Cowboys defense and look at where they were ranked in sacks, pressures, and points allowed. That's not a defense that wasn't rested.
"At some point in time just look to your right, Dak, that's you. Skip, his defense gave up 19 points on the road. At some point of time, your quarterback missed five games, Mike McCarthy and he tied the league for interceptions with 15. And they blame Kellen Moore. Can you believe they did Kellen Moore like that? The Cowboys were sixth in rush attempts, bit 18th in yards per rush. That ain't Kellen Moore's fault!"

After the Cowboys' playoff exit during the 2022-2023 season, franchise and Moore mutually agreed to part ways.

The 34-year-old will begin his second stint as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers.

The team fired Joe Lombardi after one season, likely due to the fact that his team gave up a 27-0 lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wildcard round of the playoffs.

Moore will join the likes of an offense led by Justin Herbert with a touchdown machine in the backfield of Austin Ekeler.
