NFL analyst claims Packers' best-laid plans have crumbled amid lack of support for Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is well under .500 in his first season without Davante Adams.

Before the 2022 season began, many voiced their concerns about the Green Bay Packers' performance dipping in Adams' absence. They all stand validated, at least for the time being.

One NFL analyst has claimed the team's plans to mitigate the wide receiver's loss have blown up in their face at 3-5. Now, with the trade deadline gone, the Packers' last hopes for a spark may have faded.

Speaking on "NFL Live," Dan Orlovsky claimed the team's decision to skip any additions has doomed them to the same plan they had at the start of the season. He claimed that there was little hope of expecting things to suddenly gel in the second half of the season after their poor start.

Here's how Orlovsky put it:

"They're not a wide receiver away. Yeah, but their standing pat doesn't change anything either. And to sit here and say they're not a Super Bowl contender, they got a guy who's a back-to-back MVP [Aaron Rodgers]. They're the number one or number two run game efficiency in the NFL."

He went on to claim that the team is closer to being a Super Bowl contender than it seems:

"They have a defense that has over 3000 snaps played this season by first and second rounders. To sit in that conference and say, 'We're not a Super Bowl contender' [doesn't make sense]."

Lastly, he explained that the original plan that failed and how the team may have been able to pivot:

"At some point you sit there and go, 'We had this plan, we traded Davante, we got those defensive cats. We had a plan. If we're going to run the football, the offensive line is going to dominate. We'll play suffocating defense.'

"That's not happening, so we have to deviate from that plan... Chase Claypool was handed [away] for a second-round pick."

By the end of September, the original plan seemed to be working for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

At the end of the game against the New England Patriots on October 2, the team was 3-1 and keeping pace with the other greats of the league. En route to 3-1, Rodgers was able to beat Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in back-to-back weeks.

However, since then, it has all been downhill for Aaron Rodgers. After blowing a comfortable lead against the New York Giants, the team failed to show up against the New York Jets.

Green Bay then faced the Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills after falling to 3-3. The Packers dropped both games and now sit at 3-5 with no outside reinforcements coming.
