Recently, an old photo of Jerry Jones emerged which has divided the opinions of people around the country. The photo is from 1957 where the Cowboys owner is seen with a group of anti-segregationists in high school.
As seen in the photo, it looks like Jones is a part of a group of white boys who are trying to stop black students from entering the school. Due to this, people are taking shots at Jones.
Following the backlash from people, Jason Whitlock came to the defense of Jones and claimed that people evolve as they grow older. Here's what Jason Whitlock said about Jones:
"Join the Crips at 12, drop bodies until age 19, become a rap star at 20 and all is forgiven. Toast of America... A 14-year-old onlooker in 1957 must be canceled. No way Jerry evolved. Only Joe Biden, Jay Z, Snoop, and Democrats evolve."
The photo is over 65 years old and the situation back then was a lot different from what it is now. Jones has never been perceived as treating anyone unfairly, but the photo is damning.
Stephen A. Smith also came to the defense of Jerry Jones
Stephen A. Smith, a popular critic of the Dallas Cowboys, is a close friend of Jones. He also came to the defense of the Cowboys owner. Here's what he said on First Take:
"I'm pretty pissed off. And let me say this. I'm pissed off, but not for reasons that people would think. I'm very, very fond of Jerry Jones. And I'm not hiding that from anybody. Is his record perfect? No. But I'm pissed off because he doesn't deserve what just happened."
Smith added:
"He doesn't deserve it. One report, our report said he was 14 years old. Another report said he was 15 years old. At minimum, that's 65 years ago. You're gonna bring up a picture of Jerry Jones, standing at this protest?"
Social media went off against Stephen A. Smith for defending Jones and the situation has proved divisive. While some are defending the actions of the Cowboys owner, many believe that he was wrong to be there, regardless of the age of the photograph.
