Former NFL defensive lineman Chris Canty has highlighted a receiver issue for the Dallas Cowboys and their quarterback Dak Prescott. He believes this is the reason why the team lost against Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

The Cowboys were up 28-14 in the fourth quarter but could not close the deal as Aaron Rodgers and the Packers managed to get the 31-28 win in overtime at Lambeau Field.

Canty spoke on ESPN's Get Up and explained that it is the lack of offensive weapons that is hurting Prescott and the Cowboys offense.

"I think another big issue and why we're not seeing the best version of Dak Prescott is because he ain't got nobody else to throw the ball to other than number 88. The two interceptions that he threw in that game and were in number 88’s direction. They gotta find somebody else that can beat tight man coverage because they don't have that dude right now. Cowboys receivers other than CeeDee Lamb on the season [have] only two receiving touchdown."

Canty does have a point. Aside from CeeDee Lamb, who caught 11 passes for 150 yards, the next best receiver for Dallas was Michael Gallup, who caught four passes. Another receiver is needed and with James Washington edging closer to a return, help is on the way.

There is also the looming shadow of Odell Beckham Jr. His acquisition would help the Dallas offense, but he has plenty of suitors.

Can Dak Prescott be blamed for Cowboys struggles?

Dak Prescott can shoulder some of the blame, yes. But let's not forget that he did have the Cowboys up 14 points in the fourth quarter. As Dan Quinn stated after the Eagles loss, there is "plenty of blame to go around" and with the loss to Green Bay, again there is plenty to go around.

The defense simply could not stop the run. CeeDee Lamb ran the wrong route on one of Prescott's interceptions. Jalen Tolbert's offside flag and the numerous penalties all contributed.

In a nutshell, the Packers were simply better for longer. Dallas had the win within reach, but couldn't hammer it home.

Up next is a tricky away trip to face the Minnesota Vikings. Oh, and they have Dalvin Cook, another good test for the Cowboys' run defense.

So while Dak Prescott can take some of the blame, there were many other factors that contributed to the Dallas collapse on Sunday.
