Earlier this season, Rihanna was confirmed to perform in the Super Bowl halftime show. It will be her first performance in a while and fans were ecstatic to combine her music with one of the most anticipated events of the year. However, the preshow itself will set the tone for the day.

In a recent announcement, Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph shared that she will be starting off the event by singing the black national anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing."

Fans seemed excited about the development and were hyped on social media. With the NFL playoffs here, fans are all the more excited about the Super Bowl and the events surrounding it. Here are some of the reactions:

A few users added that this was a long time coming for the star and they were happy to see her set to perform in front of such an audience. Others were surprised, not having seen her as a singer before.

Dedicated fans added that while they were not into the Super Bowl this season, they would certainly tune in for her and Rihanna. Some even reassured Sheryl Lee Ralph about the performance, letting her know that this was indeed no longer a dream.

Considering the massive scale, Sheryl initially couldn't believe the news herself. She let fans know so on social media, receiving a positive response in return.

"Someone wake me up from this dream! I’ll be singing Lift Every Voice and Sing at Super Bowl LVII – See you there," she wrote.

The NFL has also landed another artist to perform the national anthem. Ralph will be singling “Lift Every Voice and Sing," and Chris Stapleton will be performing the anthem.

In addition, Babyface will perform "America the Beautiful." Furthermore, American Sign Language interpreters will perform the song with the artists. Troy Kotsur will sign the national anthem, Colin Denny will perform with Babyface, while Justina Miles will sign for “Lift Every Voice and Sing."

The big game will be held at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 12.
