Today, Wednesday, Jan. 25, the NFL announced the AP Awards finalists for many different awards for the 2022 season.

Of those awards, three finalists were named for the AP 2022 Comeback Player of the Year award.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey were all named finalists for the award.

NFL fans were left divided between the three finalists for Comeback Player of the Year. Some didn't think McCaffrey belonged on the list due to him playing seven games last season and constantly suffering injuries.

Others didn't think Smith was deserving because he hadn't played in years. Some fans were left wondering how Tennessee Titans running back and Philadelphia Eagles' defensive lineman, Brandon Graham, was snubbed off the list.

Here's how fans reacted to the three finalists:

Geno Smith took over as the Seattle Seahawks quarterback and became a starter after eight seasons of being a backup. He led the team to a 9-8 record and a playoff appearance.

Smith led the league with his 69.8% completion percentage, while throwing for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 100.9 passer rating.

Christian McCaffrey played in just seven games last season after suffering injuries to his hamstring and ankle that kept him sidelined. He scored just two total touchdowns last season while recording less than 800 yards. This season, he recorded over 1,700 total yards while scoring 12 touchdowns, playing for two different teams as he was traded to the 49ers mid-season.

Saquon Barkley has played in three more games since last season but has drastically improved his numbers. He had the worst season of his career a year ago as he recorded 593 rushing yards, two touchdowns, 263 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

This season, he has recorded 1,312 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns and 338 receiving yards.

The winners will be announced on Thursday, Feb. 9, during the NFL Honors.
