Antonio Brown made his political opinions known ahead of the 2024 Presidential election. The former NFL wide receiver, who has made headlines on his own accord, not only endorsed Donald Trump but he also helped him campaign at a rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
For Brown though, being a loyal supporter isn't enough and now he has formally applied to be a part of Trump's administration. On Tuesday, Brown announced that he had applied to become an advisor, one who would advise on athletes helping their local communities.
“We, as athletes, can do so much for the communities we came from, including being role models for the next generation & giving back” -Brown said, as per ML Football non X.
As one can imagine, the comments on social media weren't too positive towards the idea of Antonio Brown joining the administration. Some believe it wasn't a good move for the country and others noted that Brown had recently filed for bankruptcy amongst his other controversies.
Others on X said that everything that has happened in U.S. over the last few weeks seems unreal at this point. Another called the year 'insane' if Antonio Brown is hired to become a Presidential advisor.
"This s*** is a simulation I'm sure of it."-said one person.
"Isn’t he broke now?"-questioned one user on X.
"2024 HAS BEEN THE MOST INSANE YEAR EVER."-declared one person.
Brown, who previously served as an owner of the Albany Empire, of the National Arena League, was stripped of the franchise after he failed to pay his players and then bounced paychecks.
That previous history as well as his run-ins with the law on alleged domestic violence charges, all have some wondering if Brown is qualified to work with the government.
"first man with cte hired to the us government?"-said one.
"Please no."-one person pleaded.
"This dude was bouncing payroll checks to the players of that team he bought few years back. Give back to community please. Ask the contractors that worked on his house."-another shocked person said.
Antonio Brown's former Steelers teammate responds to role in administration
There are plenty of comments questioning Antonio Brown's qualifications for a position in the United States government. But he did get support from one former teammate.
Former NFL running back Le'Veon Bell replied to the news and referred to his former teammate as 'that guy,' showing his support. Like Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell had also endorsed Trump for President.
"AB is that guy."-Le'Veon Bell wrote on X.
Brown and Bell were teammates on the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2013 until 2018. It was then that Bell left the team after contract disputes. The Steelers traded Brown in March 2019 after he expressed his desire to play elsewhere.
