NFL Insider claims divorce has altered Tom Brady’s 2023 plans with 49ers out of the running- “He ain't going to the West Coast”

Tom Brady will be a free agent at the end of the season, and many expect him to leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady is unlikely to retire, and his name has been linked to the San Francisco 49ers and the Las Vegas Raiders.

However, Rick Stroud, an NFL insider who covers the Buccaneers, believes that a move to the West Coast is highly unlikely for Brady. This is because his entire family is based on the East Coast.

Here's what Rick Stroud said about Brady's future in the NFL after this season on his Sports Day Tampa Bay with Rick Stroud podcast:

"I don't see how you can have three kids that don't live with you full time and be playing on the West Coast. But just like last time, ultimately it's what does Tom want? Does Tom want to stay on the East Coast?"

Stroud added:

"I'm sure they'll have another conversation that the San Francisco 49ers even though Brock Purdy has played great now we don't know the rest of the story. Brock Purdy goes to a Super Bowl and wins it. Very unlikely they'll be in the market for a quarterback."

He continued:

"I've been told he ain't going to the West Coast, like, you know, he had a divorce. He is you know, custody of his children with his ex-wife. She certainly lives over here. He's got another son in New York. I don't see how you can have three kids that don't live with you full time and be playing on the West Coast."

The points that Stroud made are quite valid and it will be tough for Brady to leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and join a team on the West Coast. This will rule out the chances of both the San Francisco 49ers and the Las Vegas Raiders if they want to pursue Brady.

Best east coast destinations for Tom Brady

If Tom Brady is to stay on the East Coast due to his family and kids, here are the best destinations ranked for him for the 2023 NFL season.

  1. Miami Dolphins
  2. New York Jets
  3. New England Patriots

The Dolphins are still unsure about Tua Tagovailoa's status after he suffered yet another concussion injury. If he does not play next season, Tom Brady could very well sign with the Dolphins, who have a very good roster.

The Jets also need a quarterback and Brady could join them as well. Although a reunion with the Patriots is very unlikely, we can't rule that out yet. The prospect of Rob Gronkowski potentially joining a team that Tom Brady will sign with will also attract multiple teams to sign the Buccaneers quarterback.
