NFL Rumors: Former Washington star QB involved in $6 billion Commanders bid

Could another party be joining the ownership group that's trying to buy the Washington Commanders? Former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III was sly about it, but it's hard to think he's not at least interested in joining the Josh Harris-led ownership group.

The group currently involves Harris, Mitchell Rales, Magic Johnson and others. Will Griffin be joining them? He hinted as much on the "Rich Eisen Show:"

“I’m head over heels about that process. To be a player for that team, to not have my career to go the way that I wanted it to, or the fans wanted it to, it would be a full circle type of moment to come back and try to help that team and that organization build the winner that the fans deserve.”

It's one thing to be supportive of a former team getting a new owner, but Griffin specifically mentions himself coming back to the team and helping build a winner. That's something an owner does, not a fan/analyst.

Whether or not he is actually in the Harris/Rales ownership group remains to be confirmed, but it certainly sounds like he is or is at least trying to be.

Will the Harris/Mitchell group be the next owners of the Washington Commanders?

According to reports, the Josh Harris/Mitchell Rales group has a fully-financed $6 billion bid to be the Washington Commanders' next set of owners.

Schefter tweeted:

"The Josh Harris/Mitchell Rales group, which nows includes Magic Johnson, officially has submitted a fully-financed bid that meets Dan Snyder’s $6 billion asking price, per source."

Of course, that includes Magic Johnson, the former Los Angeles Lakers executive and part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. It may also include Robert Griffin III, who has a net worth of about $13 million.

They are not the only bid for the team, though. Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos has also submitted a $6 billion bid - fully funded as well.

The team is valued at $5.6 billion, but these two ownership groups are obviously very serious about buying the team from Dan Snyder.
