Packers' move for Aaron Rodgers' WR reinforcement fell through before trade deadline

It's no secret that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers needs help on the offensive side of the ball. With the NFL trade deadline now come and gone, Rodgers is still without the reinforcements that he's needed for the last few seasons.

This has left Packers fans angry that the franchise isn't doing its best to help the 38-year-old. With a 3-5 record and a couple games behind the Minnesota Vikings, who lead the NFC North division, it is a tough time in Green Bay.

After not signing a receiver that Rodgers craved on deadline day, Denver Broncos insider Benjamin Albright revealed that the Packers made a call about signing Jerry Jeudy. But Green Bay didn't come close to meeting Denver's evaluation.

"The #Packers have contacted the #Broncos about a trade for WR Jerry Jeudy prior to the trade deadline. Green Bay didn't come close to offering the asking price of a 2nd round pick plus another pick in the middle rounds, per @AllbrightNFL."

The loss of Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders has been felt hard. The Packers don't look the same, and with rookies failing to step up, it all makes for bad viewing.

If Green Bay had acquired Jeudy, it would have been a good signing and a step in the right direction to help the battling receivers on the roster.

The Packers are already in a precarious position. Being two games behind the Vikings, Green Bay have little to no margin for error for the rest of the season.

The next three games will likely decide their fate for 2022. The Dallas Cowboys (6-2), Tennessee Titans (5-2) and Philadelphia Eagles (7-0) are their next opponents. That is a brutal stretch.

Considering Green Bay is on a four-game losing streak, it is going to be tough sledding to get anything out of these three games. One saving grace is that the Cowboys and Titans (the next two) are both at Lambeau Field.

But that might not mean much as the New York Giants and New York Jets have won the last two times Green Bay have been at home.

The season isn't over for Rodgers and his team, but the time has come to win games. Otherwise, the back-to-back NFL MVP will be watching the playoffs from his couch.
