There has been a lot of speculation about what Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will do next season. We may have just learned what the future holds for the four-time NFL MVP.

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, the 39-year-old will likely return to Lambeau next season. The size and length of his contract are the main reasons why he will remain in Green Bay.

While speaking on ESPN morning show 'Get Up', Darlington gave Packers fans some hope for next season:

“A conversation I had with a very important Green Bay Packers source, who quite honestly believes that he will be back with the Packers. ... All of this is being overhyped.
"He looks at the contract that Aaron Rodgers signed last year, the commitment he gave to the team. [He] believes at the end of the day, #12 will be back with the Packers.”

Now this is interesting. Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show last week that no one inside his inner circle is talking to anyone about his future. So where exactly are these rumors coming from? He is currently on a four-day darkness retreat to figure out his next move. It seems as though some people believe they know what he will do next.

If the "source" is correct, returning to Wisconsin seems like the right move for the 39-year-old. Rodgers knows the playbook, players and coaches, so it is a perfect fit. Additionally, he can build on what he did last season with rookies Christian Watson and Romeu Doubs.

Even though Green Bay didn't make the playoffs, there were many encouraging signs in the second half of the season. Many feel that they have the ability to bounce back in 2023. Of course, much of that depends on the quarterback.

If the four-time MVP does return, then the Packers will be one of the teams vying for a playoff spot in the NFC. Hopefully, we don't have to wait too long to see if the "source" is correct.

Rodgers was initially selected 24th overall by the Packers in the 2005 NFL Draft. He has amassed 5001 pass completions, 59,005 passing yards, 475 touchdowns and 105 interceptions during his career. He also won the Super Bowl and was crowned Super Bowl MVP after the Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers at Super Bowl XLV.
