Niners insider warns against locker room mutiny as Kyle Shanahan faces pressure

The San Francisco 49ers, led by coach Kyle Shanahan, are having an underwhelming season, to say the least. The 49ers are the defending NFC champions but haven't played as such this season.

Pegged as preseason Super Bowl favorites, the 49ers are currently 5-7, and their playoff chances are thinning by the week.

There are a few key reasons for the Niners' disappointing season. The team has suffered many injuries and has been one of the least healthy teams in the league. There has also been a decline in play from many star players. With the team having a poor season, there have been talks of whether Shanahan should be on the hot seat.

49ers insider Tim Kawakami believes if the 49ers brass decided to fire Shanahan after this season, they could potentially lose the locker room from a management standpoint. On Tuesday, 95.7 The Game posted his comments on X.

"If you fire Shanahan, they'd be p*ssed off in the 49ers locker room," he said on Willard & Dibs. "They would be mad about that. They believe that Kyle Shanahan is their best way to win."

Shanahan has had a ton of success with the 49ers. In his seven full seasons as head coach, he has led them to the playoffs in four seasons, including the last three years.

The NFL is a tough business, and the ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl. Recently, if that doesn't happen for a team, management quickly makes some drastic changes.

Kyle Shanahan has been a great coach for the 49ers since taking over in 2017, with a 69-58 record. The 49ers have made it to the Super Bowl twice under him but fell short both times to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 49ers, at 5-7, are in last place in the NFC West. Whether they move on from Kyle Shanahan will be revealed in the offseason.
