The Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. He spent the first three seasons learning the game as backup to four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers. After Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023, Love took over as the starting quarterback.

After weeks of uncertainty this offseason, Aaron Rodgers decided on his NFL future, signing a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the upcoming season. Rodgers will go up against Jordan Love in a Sunday Night Football clash in Week 8.

ESPN Milwaukee's Jason Wilde, catching up with Jordan Love amid his offseason training, asked the Packers quarterback about Aaron Rodgers joining the Steelers and the two teams' clash in Week 8. Love opened up about his pre- and post-game plans for the matchup.

"I was excited for A-Rod," Love said. "I don't feel like I was too surprised. There were a lot of rumors going on the whole offseason about him going to the Steelers. I was excited for him that he was going to keep playing.

"It's going to be fun, it's going to be awesome. I'm excited for it. I can't wait to be on different sides meeting up, and I know we'll talk pregame and things like that, and hopefully we can exchange jerseys after."

Jordan Love helped the Packers to playoff appearances in both seasons as the starting quarterback. Last season, they put up an 11-6 record, but their Super Bowl run ended with a loss to eventual champions Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card playoff round.

Packers coach shares take on Jordan Love ahead of the 2025 season

Matt LaFleur has been the coach of the Packers since 2019 and has overseen Love's development since acquiring him in 2020.

In May, LaFleur, in an interaction with Chris Simms about the 2025 season, talked about Love's game and highlighted some areas the quarterback needs to improve on.

"I just think it all comes back down to just him understanding the intent of why we're calling every play, and that's what a lot of our time in the offseason is dedicated to," LeFleur said. "Like, Hey, why are we calling this? What are we looking for? What happens if we don't get the premier looks? Where are we going with the ball?"

Matt LaFleur explained how he wants Love to take more control over the Packers' offense on the field. He believes that taking ownership will help the quarterback develop his instinct and confidence and benefit him in the long run.
